The simplest and safest adhesives are made this way. The drawback is that it takes a very long time to dry (harden by oxidation). Conversely, it is easy to make safe adhesives if you take the time.
We know that we can add heavy metals and other substances to dry it quickly, but it is harmful to both the human body and the environment.
Currently, we are trying to find an adhesive that stops oxidation at just the right point and stabilizes the adhesive in a hard jelly state. It is used to stick cotton leather together.
Since further chemical treatment is not possible in our current workshop, we are trying to give it physical elasticity by adding fine cork powder.
